1. What this policy covers

RenterCheck ("we", "us") is operated at backgroundcheck.pl. This policy explains what cookies, local storage, and similar technologies we use, and why. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more broadly.

2. What we actually use

RenterCheck keeps its footprint deliberately small. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or cross-site analytics cookies.

• session_UUID — an essential, httpOnly cookie that keeps you logged in. Set when you log in, removed when you log out or after 7 days of inactivity. Without it the site cannot recognise your session.
• Browser local storage (not a cookie, but disclosed here for transparency) — stores your language preference and whether you've dismissed the cookie banner, entirely on your device.
• Payment processing — when you buy a lookup or a token bundle, our payment provider, Stripe, may set its own cookies in the payment form it renders. Stripe controls those directly; see their cookie policy at stripe.com/cookies-policy.

3. Consent

The session cookie and local storage entries above are strictly necessary for the site to function and are not subject to opt-out consent under applicable law. The banner you see on first visit is a transparency notice, not a request to enable optional tracking — because we don't run any.

If that changes in the future (for example, if we add analytics), we will update this policy and ask for consent before setting anything beyond strictly necessary cookies.

4. Managing cookies

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will log you out and reset your language preference and banner acknowledgement.
